Hal­ton swim­mers make his­tory

HAL­TON’S se­nior swim­ming squad fi­nally got their hands on the Mersey­side & Dis­trict Swim­ming League win­ner’s shield, some seven months af­ter the last gala.

With Hal­ton lead­ing the league af­ter four events, the fi­nal gala was due to be held at Ever­ton’s home pool but with them un­able to or­gan­ise the last fix­ture, Hal­ton were crowned cham­pi­ons for the 2017-18 sea­son.

This is the first time that Hal­ton have won the tro­phy af­ter years of com­pet­ing in the league.

It was a re­ally close and ex­cit­ing league and all swim­mers swam bril­liantly over the six months it took to com­plete the com­pe­ti­tion.

Hal­ton won the first gala in Septem­ber last year, with Ever­ton sec­ond and Garston in third.

In Oc­to­ber, Hal­ton fin­ished in third place with Ever­ton fin­ish­ing in first and Prescot sec­ond.

Mov­ing on to Fe­bru­ary this year Hal­ton fin­ished in sec­ond be­hind Ever­ton by seven points.

The last home gala at Kingsway saw Hal­ton fin­ish first again with Ever­ton sec­ond. ●
