Halton swimmers make history
HALTON’S senior swimming squad finally got their hands on the Merseyside & District Swimming League winner’s shield, some seven months after the last gala.
With Halton leading the league after four events, the final gala was due to be held at Everton’s home pool but with them unable to organise the last fixture, Halton were crowned champions for the 2017-18 season.
This is the first time that Halton have won the trophy after years of competing in the league.
It was a really close and exciting league and all swimmers swam brilliantly over the six months it took to complete the competition.
Halton won the first gala in September last year, with Everton second and Garston in third.
In October, Halton finished in third place with Everton finishing in first and Prescot second.
Moving on to February this year Halton finished in second behind Everton by seven points.
The last home gala at Kingsway saw Halton finish first again with Everton second. ●
