Brow about that as Mill power to a blanking of Hammer & Pincers

-

ON Monday evening in the Widnes & District Darts League, the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued with round eight being played.

Mill Brow SC at home to the Hammer & Pincers won all nine games in a thoroughly comprehensive whitewashing.

Eric Peel, Mark Harrison and Brian Spruce began the rout in the singles. This was followed by wins for pairs Paul Linger & Mark Harrison, Dave Powell & Charles Roberts and Brian Spruce & Eric Peel.

The drubbing was completed by wins in the final singles for John McWhinnie, Kev Helps and Dave Powell.

The Millfield at home to Halton Stadium conceded the first five games to the Stadium’s Alan Magee, Tony Jackson (16 darts) and Neil Ward followed by pairs Joe Price & Kenny Murphy and John Bowles & Alan Magee (17 darts). Although their fate was sealed, the Millfield’s Billy Fox & Ian Wall recovered a point.

However, the Stadium were on a roll as they took the remaining three games to complete an 8-1 triumph.

John Kilkenny (14 darts and 180), Kev Garcia (17 and 14 darts) and Colin Rigby (16 darts) were their winners.

Simms Cross Institute at home to the Goldmine conceded the first game to the visitors’ Karl Windisch.

Ray Dutton then levelled for the Stute.

A further two wins from Brian Dutton and opening pair Dave Evans & Mick Culllen gave the Stute a healthy lead.

However, this lead was not to last as the Goldmine surged ahead taking the next four games through Lee Hayes & John Glover, Sean Bell & Karl Windisch and Sean Bell (16 darts) and John Glover to confirm their match victory.

Mick Culllen took the final game for the Stute, but it was simply a consolation.

Widnes Bowling Club at home to the Ball suffered badly as the Ball’s Martin Ball and Ste Whitfield took the opening two games, before adding the next singles game and the opening pairs.

James Holden & Martin Ball then claimed the next to make it five games in a row confirming victory early on.

The Bowler bagged the next game through Tommy Robertson & Alan Clark, whilst the Ball’s Lol Fonterigo add a further point to their tally.

Joe Batty then grabbed the penultimate game, but the Ball were still on a roll as Karl Whitfield (14 darts along with a pair of maximums) took the final game completing a 7-2 success in the end.
