Outstanding rating for town centre nursery
OFSTED has rated a Widnes nursery Outstanding.
Kids Planet Widnes, on Victoria Road, was given the highest rating and high praise in a report published on Monday, October 29.
The report said that staff and management are passionate about providing an outstanding early years experience. They have ‘inspirational and dynamic management’ who have high expectations of both staff and children.
The children enjoy secure attachments with staff and individual care needs are well met. Exemplary partnerships with an large range of professionals support a ‘highly successful joined-up approach to supporting children’s development.’
The report praised the planned activities for individual key children, following the children’s interests and abilities.
It was also noted that parents were very complimentary about the nursery, and are kept in the loop about the care routines and how their children learn.
Inspector Lindsey Wallwork-Jones said: “Children’s behaviour is impeccable. They are especially kind, considerate and caring towards each other and their environment. For example, children are learning about recycling and caring for the various nursery pets, such as a hamster, tortoises and fish.
“Staff are exemplary role models for children. Younger children build very close bonds with their key person. Staff work in close partnership with parents to ensure babies are kept in their familiar home routines. For example, parents are consulted on sleep routines and given choices of cots, beds and sleep mats.
‘‘Children thrive from having plenty of fresh air and exercise as they excitedly play hide and seek and pedal swiftly around obstacles in the outdoor environments.’’
On her visit Mrs Wallwork-Jones observed the quality of teaching during activities and assessed the impact it had on children. She spoke with staff and children and completed a joint observation with a Kids Planet manager.
