Lessons focus on religions
A RUNCORN high school has hosted a series of lessons for primary pupils for an interfaith week.
Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy (OBA) welcomed the Murdishaw West youngsters for lessons held in the history and RE department.
Sessions covered a range of world religions.
Pupils aged four to 11 years old are enthusiastically throwing themselves into the lessons, performing the stories of key Jewish figures to learning about the 10 gurus who founded Sikhism.
An OBA spokeswoman said the project’s aim is to deepen the pupils respect and understanding of traditions found in the UK and world, and to show the pupils ‘how interconnected the religious traditions are with their own lives’.
Sean McGlory, OBA head of RE and history, said: “OBA teachers are enjoying delivering it to pupils and the pupils have loved their lessons.
“All in all, it is shaping up to be a really successful interfaith week.”
