Football pitch plan comes a step closer
EAST Runcorn MP Mike Amesbury has launched discussions for a 3G pitch at Helsby High School.
The Weaver Vale MP has been working with Frodsham Junior Football Club (FJFC), campaigners and Cheshire FA over the past year on the plans.
Once completed, the pitch is intended to be used by FJFC, residents and the school.
Mr Amesbury met Cheshire West And Chester Council (CWAC) leaders where the scheme’s progress is reported to have topped the agenda.
The club has raised £100,000 through fundraising to put into the project, with the Football Foundation set to invest £650,000.
The MP said: “I have been pleased to work closely with Frodsham Juniors FC, Cheshire West And ● Chester Council, the Football Foundation and Cheshire County FA to give them all the support I can to make this project a reality.
“The fundraising efforts they have undertaken have been spectacular, and I know from my meetings with colleagues including local campaigners Mike Garvey and Michelle Parker that the proposal has significant local support, as Frodsham Juniors is a fantastic local community club.
“I’m looking forward to meeting with CWAC colleagues this week, where taking the project forward is top of the agenda.
“I know that the leadership of CWAC share my enthusiasm for the club’s ambitions and I continue to do all I can to support them, as I have been doing over the past year.”
