Club to carry on giving support to mental health

WIDNES VIKINGS will continue with their successful ‘Offload’ programme this year.

Offload is a free weekly programme that uses the power of Rugby League to help men build their mental fitness.

Every Tuesday evening between 6.30pm8pm at the Select Security Stadium, Offload programme co-ordinator Sean Mellor welcomes participan­ts to join in the interactiv­e sessions which takes place in a relaxed and fun environmen­t.

The team of Offload presenters includes former players, coaches and referees such as Danny Sculthorpe, Phil Veivers and Ian Smith, who share past experience­s with mental health problems and how they overcame the obstacles they faced.

Delivered in partnershi­p with Rugby League Cares, the sessions are free and open to all men aged 16-65 and no knowledge of rugby league is needed to attend.

Although the sessions follow a 10-week ‘fixture list’, participan­ts can drop in at any time and attend as many sessions as they wish.
