Shoplifter has ‘disregard for people and property’
A PAIR of shoplifters from Runcorn have been sentenced.
Joe Thompson, 31, of no fixed abode, received eight weeks in prison for stealing £31.96 of coffee from Co-Op in Runcorn on November 10.
He was also ordered to pay the full amount in compensation plus a £115 victim surcharge.
Court papers said Thompson had pleaded guilty and had to go to prison because he ‘has a flagrant disregard for people and property’, aggravated by his previous record.
Thompson had been jointly charged with Sarah Jane Brown, 26, care of Bridgewater Street, Runcorn, who was dealt with for separate thefts.
Brown pleaded guilty to stealing meat, snacks and sandwiches worth £32 from Co-Op on November 28, jointly charged with Thompson, and pilfering meat and drinks worth £37.05 from Co-Op on December 13.
She was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison, suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £32 in compensation and a £115 victim surcharge.
