Red and Blacks give clubhouse a spring clean

spick-and-span in readiness for the new season.

Outgoing President Ged Snee said: “We are very grateful to NatWest and the RFU for their financial support, which is vital to a club like ours.

“We were delighted that so many volunteers turned up to help with the work over the two days ● and make the event a big success.

“We are proud of the facilities we have here at Heath Road and want to keep them that way both now and in the future”.

On the rugby front, another piece of the jigsaw fell into place with confirmation that the draft fixture list for the 2019/20 Lancashire County Rugby Union Leagues, released a fortnight ago, has finally been confirmed.

A late request by a further four teams to join the Leagues was ultimately rejected by the Management Committee after it was decided that it would not possible to make substantial changes to the Structure in order to accommodate those extra clubs.

It all means that the set-up will consist of two divisions of 12 clubs, which in itself is an increase of four teams on that of the previous season.

As far as the red-and-blacks are concerned it will mean an opening first ADM Premier League fixture at home on September 14 with a game against new boys Fleetwood.

This will be followed by fixtures against Oldham and West Park.

The club is still waiting to find out if they will be able to defend the Lancashire Trophy.

They will be invited to take part in the Lancashire Cup instead, which will see them pitting their wits against teams from a level or two higher. ● The Annual General Meeting will take place tomorrow (Thursday) at 8pm in the Clubhouse.
