Mexichem Fluor, which develops, manufactures and supplies fluorine products, will now become ‘Koura’.

A company spokeswoman said the decision is a strategic move intended to reflect the firm’s ‘impressive global footprint’ and ‘aspiration to have a positive impact across the world’.

She added that Koura has ambitious growth plans and is preparing an aggressive business-wide recruitment programme.

It is also looking to expand its range of products and services.

The spokeswoman said the rebrand also mirrors the ‘company’s long term commitment to sustainability and the environment, its heritage, people, communities, safety and health’, adding that the firm has begun to enact ‘positive change’ in line with its values with more environmentally-friendly products, innovation and sustainability a main focus.

Koura’s Runcorn plant has been classified as injury free for 30 years and last year the company won the responsible care for process safety leadership at the Chemical Industry Awards 2019.

Dave Smith, Koura business director, said: “As our industry evolves, we lead the way with a modern and progressive approach, producing innovative products and providing excellent customer and technical support. Building on our 60 year heritage, we will continue to grow the company by exploring new opportunities, whilst ensuring we are dedicated to the values and commitments that shape our global brand.

“We understand the importance of sharing our insight and knowledge with the next generation who will continue to innovate and lead the industry for years to come.
