Paul turns on style to seal Brow victory

IN THE Widnes & District Darts League, the, Mill Brow SC RTB League continued, with round 13 matches played.

Mill Brow Social Club at home to Halton Stadium

Kev Helps (17 darts) opened the match with a win for the Brow.

Tony Jackson then pulled a game back for the Stadium only to see the Brow take the next three games with wins from Chris Bright, Dave Powell and Ray Linger and Paul Woodward and Chris Bright leaving them needing just one more game.

The Stadium weren’t about to give up that easily though and fought back to take the next three games thanks to wins from Joe Price and Joe Kelly and Steve Barrow and John Bowles to leave it four games apiece going into the last game.

Paul Linger was the man of the moment, coming through to take the game and the match for the Brow.

Widnes Bowling Club B

The Bowler took a two-game lead following wins from David Cowan and Jeff Thompson.

The Cricketer’s then took the next three games with wins coming from Paul Mason, John Mulholland and Tony Langford and Rob Sutton and Nikki Sutton giving them the lead.

But the Bowler hit straight back with further wins from Dave Jackson and Jeff Thompson along with Dave Jackson and Mike Ruane to take the match.

Nikki Sutton landed the final game for the Cricketer’s – just too late.

Hough Green Social Club at home to Widnes Cricket Club B

Andy Macintosh and then Dereck Turton put Hough Green into the lead before the Cricket Club fired themselves up to take the next four through Keith Allen, Jonny Leather and Keith Allen, Nev Goff and Carl Bryan and Ian Sharples and Ian Woodward leaving them needing just one more win.

It wasn’t that simple though and Hough Green won the next two thanks to Keith Glover and Lee Buckley (19 darts) to equalise the scoreline going into the last.

Carl Bryan was the man to show composure and take the game and match for the Cricket Club.

Mersey Hotel at home to the Millfield

The Milly went into a match-winning lead following wins from Adam Mellor, Jamie Donegan, Ronnie Greylish, Mike Howard and Alan Sutton, Brian Fox and John Taylor and Chris Booth and Chris Taylor.

John Cotty then pulled one back for the Mersey but it was just a hiccup as the Milly resumed where they had left off taking the final two games with wins from John Taylor and Chris Taylor to complete the victory.

Widnes Bowling Club A at home to The Ball.

Peter Kneale (15 darts) took the first for the Ball and back came the Bowler with a win from Tommy Robertson.

The Ball then grabbed the next two games thanks to Anthony Hall (10 darts) and Anthony Hall and Nathan Sivills.

The Bowler then took another thanks to Tex Bowles and Tommy Robertson only to see the Ball come straight back with a win from Karl Whitfield and Martin Ball to leave them needing just one more game.

It was the Bowler though who fought back to take the next two thanks to Joe Batty and Tex Bowles to leave the game on a knife edge going into the last.

It was Karl Whitfield for the Ball who showed his cool to take the game and match.

On Monday January 13, in the Widnes & District Darts League the Widnes Bowling Club 501 League continued with round 14 played.

Mill Brow Social Club at home to the Millfield

Ian Wall (121 checkout) opened the scoring for the Millfield.

Ant Hitchmough (18 darts) then drew level for the Brow before the Millfield took the lead once again thanks to a win from Chris Taylor (180).

The Brow then drew level once again after a win from Mike Callaghan and Ant Hitchmough (19 darts) and it wasn’t long before they took the lead with another win, this time from Clive Rule and Kieran Stringer.

The Millfield hit back though and it wasn’t long before they were ahead courtesy of wins from Alan Sutton and Billy Fox and Alan Sutton (17 darts, 180).

The next game saw the Brow draw level again thanks to a win from Dave Powell (19 darts).

With the match level and one game to play it was Kieran Stringer (13 darts) who brought home the win for the Mill Brow to give them the match.

Goldmine A at home to The Ball.

The Goldmine took a two-game lead following wins from Luke Littler (14 darts) despite an Ant Hall (180) and Karl Windisch.

Karl Whitfield then managed to pull a game back for the Ball, but the Goldmine switched into overdrive and took all seven remaining games thanks to Luke Littler and Leon Littler, Karl Windisch and Anton Conroy, Paul Carr and Chris Clarke (18 darts), Anton Conroy, Chris Clarke and Sean Bell also scoring to give them the match.

Goldmine B at home to Simms Cross Institute B

Jordan James put the Stute into the lead, but this was quickly cancelled out as the Goldmine took the next four games with wins from Colin Grindley, Phil Dunn, Colin Grindley and Phil Dunn and Jimmy Clarke and Alan Jones.

The Stute then came back with a couple of wins from Luke Lund and Callum McCaffery and Luke Lund.

Jack Dunn then took another for the Goldmine which was enough to give them the match before Tony Newall took the final game for the Stute to give them a small consolatio­n.

Simms Cross Institute A at home to Widnes Bowling Club

The Bowler took the lead thanks to a couple of wins from Danny Magee and Alex McGill.

Andy Abbot then took one back for the Stute only to see Danny Magee and Robbie Magee and Joey Harrison and Scott Morris.

Brian Dutton and Ray Dutton (16 darts) then had a win for the Stute which was followed by a win from Tommy Robertson for the Bowler giving them the match.

With nothing left to play for, the last two games were split between the teams.
