minutes with a goal from Adam Case, then Deeside equalised and the score was 1-1 at the first period break.

The Dragons edged ahead two minutes from the restart but four unanswered goals within three and a half minutes of each other – two from Liam Eaton, one from Jake Meehan and a second for

Case – saw Widnes Wild open up a 5-3 lead.

Deeside halved the deficit with just 90 seconds left to play in the second period, but three third period goals – from Liam Yarwood and two more for Adam Case – ensured the Wild enjoyed a welldeserved 8-4 victory.

Once again Harry Bird put in an excellent display in goal, playing in both Under 13s and Under 15s games one after the other.

The Wild Academy Under 15s team now have a four-week break from competitive matches and are next in action on February 22 when they travel to face the Deeside

Under 15s team.

The Academy Under-11s side lost 8-0 away to unbeaten league leaders Manchester Storm Under 11s on Saturday. They are at home this Saturday (January 25) when they take on Whitley Bay Under-11s at Planet Ice Widnes – face off 6.15pm.

The Wild Academy Under-18s team is also in action on Saturday when they take on the Sutton Under 18s at Planet Ice, Widnes – 7.45pm face off. Both games played between these two teams so far this season have been drawn, so the sides have plenty to play for.

Admission is free to all Academy home games and spectators are urged to go along and support the Wild stars of the future.
