Four Covid cases shut pub
A RUNCORN pub closed for a deep clean after reporting four confirmed coronavirus cases among staff and customers.
Ten Lock Flight on Crosville Way issued a statement on social media on Tuesday to say the temporary closure was “in the interest of staff and guest safety” and in accordance with guidance.
The statement said the two employees who tested positive for coronavirus have been “isolated”.
A further post said a customer had been in touch on September 15 to say they had the virus and had been in Ten Lock Flight on September 8.
The next customer notified the pub on Monday this week, and two staff tested positive.
It said that only the first customer’s case had been before compulsory track and trace.
Halton Borough Council’s environmental health department has been informed.
Customers were also reminded that Test and Trace agents may contact them.
Ten Lock Flight, which opened in 2017 following the redevelopment of the contaminated Crosville bus depot site, has not said when it expects to reopen.
The initial post said: “To all our customers, we have identified four positive cases of coronavirus at the Ten Lock Flight.
“We have temporarily closed the pub to carry out a full deep clean on the premises in accordance with guidance and in the interest of staff and guest safety.
“We have notified the local authority environmental health officer.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause you, but hope you understand we are only taking this action for everyone’s safety.”
It added: “If NHS Test and Trace need to contact you they will do so independently.
“Could we politely remind you the Government has now made it mandatory to provide your details when you visit pubs and restaurants and we ask for your co-operation in complying with this.”
