Two alleged ‘county lines’ drug suppliers to Widnes are arrested

-

MERSEYSIDE Police arrested two suspects alleged to be involved in “county lines” Class A drug supply to Widnes.

A force spokesperson said officers raided a property in Page Moss, Knowsley, on Wednesday, July 21.

A 19 year-old man from Norris

Green and an 18 year-old woman from Page Moss were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and possession of criminal property.

The police spokesman said officers also discovered a “large quantity of cash”.

“County lines” refers to the practice of city-based drugs groups supplying smaller towns and villages and specifically refers to the use of mobile phone “lines” to co-ordinate supply and sales.

Inspector Gary Stratton, of Merseyside’s Project Medusa taskforce, said: “Project Medusa is committed to cutting these lines and this type of activity will continue day in day out to take those criminals, who control these lines, off our streets.

“County Lines drug dealing not only affects the lives of the drug users, but also the communities in which they operate and the young and vulnerable people who are exploited by these criminals.

“We hope today’s arrests and warrants send a message out to others involved in this type of criminality that we will take action and you will be arrested and put before the courts.”
