VENUES across Runcorn and Widnes are to host a festival of live music this month showcasing talent from across the borough and beyond.

Celebrate Halton Music is taking place from Friday to Sunday, September 3 to 5 with acts to perform at the Victoria Park in Widnes, Runcorn Hill, Culture HQ at Shopping City, plus six Runcorn pubs - Society Tap Room, The Castle, Norton Arms, The Lockdown Pub, and The Tavern and The Mersey Hotel (The Snig) in Widnes, as well as The Studio in Lacey Street and Widnes Outdoor Market.

The festival is part of Halton’s Borough of Culture 2021 year and organisers Halton Borough Council said it reflects the support of pubs and venues all year round to lay on entertainment and provide opportunities for acts to develop and share their talent.

ArtReach, the organisation tasked with shaping the Borough of Culture for the local authority, has curated the line-ups alongside Loose music collective project manager Louise Nulty and music programmer Sashwati Mira Sengupta.

Louise said: “Audiences will be able to bathe in the glorious melodic tones of a wide range of musical genres.”

She added: “Thanks to all the venues and local artists who contacted us through the consultation, including Liverpool’s Sound City and NorthWest Based Softlad Promotions.

“Together we aim to create a weekend of local favourites, opportunities for new artists and established talent with something for everyone, ranging from free for family audiences to tickets events for connoisseurs, and perhaps a few unexpected moments of musical harmony in Halton.”
