Resilience of side big positive for Haggar

LOOKING back at the weekend’s games, Wild Player Coach Richard Haggar said: “Both games where close contests and could have gone either way.

“On Saturday against Blackburn, the game was end to end and no doubt was a good spectacle for the fans.

“We picked up a couple of injuries in the first two periods when we were already short benched but this seemed to galvanise the team and due to an unfortunate call disallowing a goal which would have put us 5-4 ahead with a few of the game to go seemed to change the game back in Blackburn’s favour.

“Sunday we started very slowly and were 4-1 down in the first period but then matched them in the second and third but again a short bench and injuries picked up through Sunday didn’t help our cause.

“It was certainly a learning curve in to D1 hockey for myself and the team but there was certainly a lot of positives to take from the games.

“Being down in both games but never giving up until the final whistle is what we will continue to show in every game we play this season and hopefully turn these close games around to wins for the Wild.”

The Wild are next in action this Sunday 19th September when they travel to play Nottingham Lions in the NIHL

Moralee Division – 5pm face off.

They then have three more away games before their next home fixture which will be on Sunday 10th October when they take on Sheffield

Scimitars in the league at Planet Ice Widnes – 5.30pm face off.
