Inquest opens for death of dad Jamie, 23

AYOUNG dad whose body was found in undergrowt­h died as a result of compressio­n to the neck, it has been confirmed.

Jamie Grimwood was found in North Wales on Saturday, September 11, on land near to where he went missing.

The opening of an inquest into the death of the dad-of-one, from Runcorn, was held last Monday (September 20).

At a brief hearing, coroner for North Wales East and Central, said that Network Rail had notified British Transport Police after Jamie Lee Grimwood was found alongside the railway near Chester Road, Flint, on September 11.

Mr Grimwood, 23, of Greenway Lane, Runcorn, was identified from dental records.

Brian Rodgers, who carried out a post-mortem examinatio­n, gave the provisiona­l cause of death as compressio­n of the neck.

The inquest was adjourned to a date to be fixed.

Mr Grimwood, was reported missing on August 23 and a largescale police search was launched.

He was last seen in Chester Road, Flint, and his dark grey Audi was later found nearby.

Within just a couple of days of his body being found over £5,000 was raised through a Go Fund Me appeal to cover the costs of his funeral.

Family, friends and workmates of Mr Grimwood gathered for a poignant balloon release at Flint fire station at a vigil to remember him.

More than 100 people turned out, laying dozens of flowers and candles in the area.

Among the online tributes from friends and family members was one which read: “Jamie was a bright, welcoming, genuine young man, a loved son, brother, nephew, grandson and dad to his young son.”
