Kind act delights Thomas
A WIDNES woman was ‘overwhelmed’ by a stranger’s act of kindness that left her son, 11, “grinning from ear to ear”.
Carli Hudson’s son Thomas returned home from the shop where he’d been with his older twin sisters and some friends.
Mum Carli, 42, said: “As soon as he got in, he just said to me, ‘There was a really nice lady in the shop, mum. She’s given me money.’
“And I said, ‘What do you mean she’s given you money? What happened?’”
She added: “Your initial reaction when somebody says to you, you know, ‘Somebody’s given me money, or bought me sweets,’ you automatically assume a hidden agenda.
“But then when he explained, it was just really overwhelming that somebody was looking out for him, for my little boy.”
Thomas, 11, was waiting in the queue of a Widnes shop around 5pm on Tuesday, September 28 when he realised he didn’t have enough money for his haul.
About to put it back, a “kind lady” turned to him and offered to help.
Carli said: “He told me the story, ‘So I had a bag of crisps, a bottle of pop and a bag of sweets, and I didn’t have enough money. So this really, really kind lady gave me a pound so I didn’t have to put them back’.”
The 11-year-old boy was “absolutely made up” and “grinning from ear to ear” thanks to this stranger’s kind act.
His mum said: “It seems so small, but actually it’s not.
“It made a massive impact on Thomas last night, because he wouldn’t have said anything if he didn’t think it.
“But as soon as he got in, he was just really happy. And he just kept saying, ‘She’s such a lovely lady.’
“He’s never experienced anything like that before. He’s only just started going out and been able to go to the shops, because he’s been too young.
“It makes a huge difference. It shows the kids that kindness is really important in life.
“To be kind to each other makes the world a much happier place.”
