WHY DID PEOPLE HAND REINS TO SOMEONE SO UNSUITABLE?
THE movement to dislodge Boris Johnson surely does not spring from his various errors since he was Prime Minister, but in the assumptions of those who offered him the job.
With an eye on the new sort of voters who had voted Conservative, they seem to have decided that that sort of voter loves ‘a naughty boy’ and thought they would get away with it – when those MPs and voters who had encountered ‘naughty boys’ from that sort of background should have learnt to avoid giving them any sort of responsibility.
Instead, they lost their heads and joined other risk-takers and lumbered the country with him. How can one trust a political party that does that? I feel sorry for the man because it was inevitable that he would find himself out of his depth.
