WIDNES BOWLING CLUB 501 LEAGUE ROUND 6

MILL BROW SC V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B

ROUND 6 of the Widnes & District Darts League kicked off with the eagerly anticipate­d clash between the only two previously unbeaten sides. It was a game that did not disappoint. The Widnes Bowling Club B made a superb start taking the first three legs. Quality darts from Kev Garcia (15 darts with 160 finish & 18 darts and 121 finish) with Kieran Stringer (17 darts) sandwiched between. John Bowles (19 and 17 darts) took the second and Alan Magee (19 darts) the third. The Brow rallied and took the first two pairs, Ant Hitchmough & Peter Fisher and Craig Winstanley & Dave Powell before John Bowles & Kev Garcia steadied the ship (17 & 16 darts) for the away team. Terry Roach completed the victory with Ant Hitchmough (141 finish) in defeat. Brad Flemming (108 finish) for the Bowler and Craig Winstanley (18 darts) for the Brow finished a very entertaini­ng game.

MILLFIELD V HAMMER & PINCERS

THE Milly made short work of their opponents with them winning eight of the nine games played. Ian Wall, Keith Horabin (180) and Tony Jackson won the opening singles. Gareth Bason & Mike Howard, Chris Taylor & Keith Horabin and Tony Jackson & Ian Wall swept the pairs. Gareth Bason and Mike Howard won the next two before Keith Glover prevented the whitewash by taking the last for the Hammer. SIMM’S CROSS INST. B V

BALL A

THE Ball A were first on the scoreboard with a win from James Holden. Luke Lund replied for the home team. This pattern continued over the next four games. Karl Whitfield for the away team with Lucas Bunton & Callum McCaffery replying for the Stute. The Ball retook the lead through Karl Windisch & Mark Delooze before Andrew McCaffery & Jordan Davies levelled the tie. James Jeffers put the home side in front but with wins from Karl Windisch and Nathan Sivills the Ball A proved the stronger.

WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A V SIMM’S CROSS INST. A

THE Simm’s Cross Institute A got off to the best possible start by taking the opening singles through Andy Abbott, Tony Green and Glen Owen (18 darts & 180). The Bowler got their first point through Mathew Drury & Scott Grady before the Stute extended their lead with Andy Abbott & Stu Pennington. The home team rallied to take the match to a deciding leg. Joe Batty & Rob Magee (180), Scott Grady (18 darts & 116 finish) and Mathew Drury made the score four each. At one leg each in the decider it was Paul Goulden who hit the vital double to give the away side the points.

BALL A V MILL BROW SC

THE Brow were the first on the score sheet with a point from Brian Spruce. Karl Whitfield (16 darts) levelled only to see his side fall behind again when Dave Powell (16 darts) won his leg. It was all square when Anthony Hall & Karl Whitfield won the opening pairs but wins from Dave Powell

& Brian Spruce, Paul Woodward & Paul Linger and Mike Ruane got the away team over the finishing line. Nathan Sivills got the next for the Ball A and the Brow took the last and the two points through Kev Helps.

WIDNES RUFC V SIMM’S CROSS INST.

THE Stute were in fine form as they whitewashe­d their opponents. Paul Batty, Glen Owen (15 darts) and Tony Green won the opening singles. Andy Abbott & Paul Batty, Brian Dutton & Joe Pennington and Glen Owen & Dave Evans took the pairs. Barry Lightfoot, Ray Dutton (16 darts) and Mick Cullen completed the rout for the away team. MILLFIELD V BALL B

MILLFIELD raced to victory by taking the first five legs. Ian Wall (16 darts), Tony Jackson and Adam Mellor followed by Keith Horabin & Jay Donegan (19 darts) and Ben Hewitt & Chris Taylor (18 darts) secured the points. Ben Hogan & Sam McGrory got the Ball B on the scoreboard but this was to be their last as Keith Horabin, Ben Hewitt and Jay Donegan swept the singles to give Milly the win.

WIDNES CC V CRICKETER’S ARMS

THE Cricketer’s Arms took the first leg through Tony Langford but with six straight victories the Cricket Club fought back to take the points. Trevor Chadwick and Matty Fisher (14 darts) won the remaining opening singles. Dave Herley & Jonny Leather (15 darts), Andy Davies & Trevor Chadwick and Nev Goff & Ernie Griffith (19 darts) took the pairs. Nev Goff stretched the home team’s lead before Leggies claimed the final two through Dave Gerrard and Graham Fenney.

THE derby started off with a bang with the home team’s Ant Hitchmough (11 darts). Colin Grindley and Scott Grady (17 darts) put the A team in front. The B replied by taking the next four through Joe Price & Colin Rigby, John Bowles & Alan Magee (11 darts), Mike & Tom Callaghan and Alan Magee (14 darts). Joe Batty took the next for the away team and Tom Callaghan finished it off for the winning side.
