Views sought on plans for over-55s flats
NEW details have emerged of a proposed residential development in Runcorn Town Centre, with views of local residents now being sought.
It was reported in December how Anwyl Partnerships wanted to construct new housing for the over-55s on derelict land, a plan it said would breathe ‘new life’ into the Old Town.
It has now launched a consultation with views being sought from local residents.
Under the proposals, there would be 66, one and two-bedroom independent living apartments, designed to be affordable for local people with a range of care needs. The site would be managed by a housing association.
The proposed five-storey complex would be built on land next to Bank Chambers which is mostly derelict but still partially occupied by the former Cheshire Building Society.
Promotional material published online by Anwyl, said: “The elevations of the apartments have been designed to maximise the views of the Bridgewater Canal for future residents.
“The arrangement of the site has been developed to ensure no issues with privacy or overlooking occur between the proposed building and neighbouring properties. The development is five-stories in height, with a flat roof to help the building sensitively respond to the surrounding context.”
It added: “The development site is located in a prominent location of Runcorn High Street and the proposed elevations will include detailing that will enhance the character of the area.
“The use of high-quality materials will give longevity to the development helping to maintain an attractive appearance.”
● The consultation closes on February 15 and views can be submitted online at www. anwylpartnerships.co.uk/consultations/highstreet-runcornconsultation.
