HALTON Chamber of Commerce has welcomed a Runcorn family business owner to its board of directors.

Richard Bamber attended his first board meeting after being voted onto Halton Chamber’s board of directors at their AGM in December.

Halton Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organisation made up of local businesses whose goal is to further the interests of the Halton business community.

The board has representatives from a range of local businesses, such as Virgin Media and General Welding, and plays a key role in ensuring the chamber and its services support the local economy and meet the needs of local businesses and the local workforce.

Val Allen MBE, chair of Halton Chamber Board, said: “The chamber works hard to build committed relationships with its members and give trusted advice and guidance to all. As a representative of businesses of all sizes, across all sectors within Halton, it’s important that the board is representative of the borough.”

Richard Bamber said: “I am delighted to become a board member of Halton Chamber of Commerce, this felt like a perfect synergy and hopefully we will be able to help drive forward the future prosperity of Halton”

Richard’s family-run business, Anthony’s Travel, has been operating in Halton for over 30 years. He has years of experience of working with businesses in the local community and had been a member of the chamber for many years before putting himself forward to be a member of the board.

Rachael Owen, chief executive of Halton Chamber, said: “Richard brings with him a real passion for wider engagement and for improving mental health and wellbeing in the workplace. He is totally committed to the borough and supporting local people, and a strong advocate for businesses – it’s a perfect match and exactly what Halton Chamber is all about.”

The Annual General Meeting was also attended by local MPs Mike Amesbury (Weaver Vale) and Derek Twigg (Halton), who spoke on topical matters such as mental wellbeing and the environment.

Rachael added: “We felt very privileged to have both Mike and Derek attend our AGM, it provided our members with a unique opportunity to ask any questions they had and hear how our local MPs represent their interests.”

The AGM also saw Val Allen reelected as chair of the board, with Robin Tudor and Stephen Nickson taking up the positions of first vice chair and second vice chair.
