Step in the right direction

-

RUNCORN Linnets Ladies faced a daunting task away to the league leaders and probable champions in Curzon Ashton who boasted a 100 per cent home record.

Three goals in the first twenty two minutes sealed the Tameside outfit’s victory in a 4-0 win.

But the Linnets can be proud of the spirit and determination they showed from that third goal onwards, creating half a dozen chances themselves and restricting the home side to just one further goal in the next 65 minutes of play.

Curzon were fast, slick and dominant in the opening 45 minutes of play and deserved their half time lead.

Manager Dave Todd will look at this scoreline and people will think this was a drubbing.

It was far from that it was more steps in the right direction and the Linnets need not fear any other team in this league based on this performance.

As for Curzon they are the stand out team in the Division and they will playing their football at a higher level come next season.
