WIDNES BOWLING CLUB 501 LEAGUE ROUND 7 WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B V SIMM’S CROSS INST. A

THE Widnes Bowling Club B got off to a flying start by taking the first three legs. Wins from Robbie Gorst (19 darts), Terry Roach (18 darts & 180) and Kev Garcia (19 darts) put the current league leaders in command. Andy Abbott & Eric Peel then replied for the Stute but this was to be there only point as the home team took the remaining five legs. Terry Roach & Joe Price, John Bowles & Kev Garcia took the last two pairs. John Bowles (14 darts & 180), Brad Flemming (16 & 19 darts) and Alan Magee completed the victory for the Bowling Club B.

SIMM’S CROSS INST. B V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A

THE Bowler A got off to a bright start with wins from Scott Grady, Alex McGill and Joe Batty. Callum & Andrew McCaffery took the first pairs game for the home side. Mathew Drury & Scott Grady (2 x 180) and Joe Batty & Rob Magee secured the points for the away team. James Jeffers and Glyn Ryan added the next two for the Stute before Rob Magee won the last for the visitors.

BALL A V MILLFIELD

THE Millfield struck first through Adam Mellor (180) but the Ball equalised when Karl Whitfield (17 darts) prevailed despite Tony Jackson (180) in defeat. Joe Kelly (19 darts) put the away team back in front only to be pegged back when Karl Whitfield & Karl Windisch won the opening pairs. John & Chris Taylor and Tony Jackson & Ian Wall put the Milly on the brink of victory. Karl Windisch pulled a leg back for the home side but this was to be their last as Ian Wall and Mike Howard (180) bagged the last two and the points for the visitors. HAMMER & PINCERS V MILL BROW SC

THE Brow were quickly out of the blocks as they raced into a 6-0 lead. Wins from Dave Powell, Clive Rule (18 darts) and Paul Linger in the singles and Peter Fisher & Kieran Stringer, Mike Callaghan & Brian Spruce and Clive Rule & Kev Helps gave the away side the points. Andrew Ellis got the Hammer’s only win before Tom Callaghan and Mike Callaghan (18 darts) finished the game in style for the Brow.

THE Stute put this game to bed early by taking five of the first six legs. Ray Dutton scored first only for the match to be levelled with a win from the Ball’s Barry Highfield. Glen Owen, Brian Dutton & Ged McPartland, Andy Abbott & Glen Owen and Dave Evans & Joe Pennington secured the points for the home team. Dave Batty added to the lead before the Ball made the score line a little more respectabl­e with wins from Karl Whitfield (12 darts) and Peter Kneale.

MILL BROW SC V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B

THE Bowler B were on target as they raced into a four game lead. Brad Flemming (18 darts), Robbie Gorst, Tom Callaghan (16 darts) and Joe Price & Danny Magee before the Brow got their first leg through Paul Linger & Paul Woodwood. John Bowles & Alan Magee (15 darts) settled the tie with further wins for the away team in Mike Callaghan and Joe Price (17 darts). Jeff Thompson took the last game for the home side but not the points.

PHIL Slavin (19 darts) opened proceeding­s by taking the first leg for the CC. Barry Noonan levelled the score before Carl Bryan gave the visitors the lead. Ray O’Connor & Mark Smith and Scott Grady & Joe Batty put the home team in front before Jonny Leather & Dave Herley (16 darts) levelled the match going into the final singles. Joe Batty (13 darts) for the Bowler and Matty Fisher (19 darts) for the away team set up a last leg decider. The Bowler A took the last and the points with a win from Scott Grady.

CRICKETER’S ARMS V MILLFIELD

THE Millfield came to play as they whitewashe­d their opponents. Ben Hewitt, Tony Jackson (16 darts) and Joe Kelly took the opening singles. Joe Kelly & Tony Jackson (13 darts) followed by John & Chris Taylor and Jay Donegan & Alan Sutton won the pairs. Mike Howard, Adam Mellor (15 darts) and Ian Wall took the last three and the points for the Milly.

BALL B V WIDNES RUFC

THE Wids started off the better by winning two of the three opening singles. Duane Lawton for the away team before James Tyghe levelled or the Ball. Phil Corless for the Wids then Sam McGrory & Ben Hogan levelled at two each. Phil Buckley & Phil Corless took the next before the Ball again brought the scores level through Shaun McDermott & Lee Woollam. The tie was then put to bed with wins from Darren Attwood and Kris Kavanagh to give the home team their first points of the season. Dan Newall took the last for the Wids but not the match.
