Plans for warehouse and office complex set to be submitted
PLANS for a gigantic £65m warehouse and office complex measuring almost half-a-million square feet are expected to be submitted to Halton Borough Council by the end of this month.
Property developers Marshall CDP held an online consultation to gauge the views of residents on their proposals for the site off Lovels Way, which they said could create 500 fulltime jobs, and 600 construction jobs.
Plans have yet to be submitted to Halton Borough Council, but if given the go-ahead it would include a 512,000 sq ft warehouse with 33,000 sq ft of integral office space, a combined area of 545,000 sq ft - roughly eight-and-a-half football pitches.
The huge site spans 55 acres and occupies land close to Alstom Transport Centre.
A total of 380 car parking spaces are proposed along with 102 cycle spaces.
The scheme includes two security gatehouses, an electricity substation, a sprinkler tank pump house, and a vehicle wash facility.
Other infrastructure such as waste storage and collection facilities, highways infrastructure, car parking, green space and landscaping are also part of the proposed development.
Consultation literature posted by the company online said: “The emerging proposals represent the opportunity to bring forward high quality employment development and create new jobs on a site which is allocated for this use by the council’s adopted and emerging planning policies.”
It added: “New employment development will attract new business to the area and create jobs.
“Investment during the construction phase will create job opportunities in the building and trade industry, providing further jobs for local people and potentially providing business for local suppliers and contractors.” An online consultation ended on Friday, February 4, with a planning application expected to be submitted later this month.
