Dog who bit woman and pet put on register

A DOG has been placed on a “biting register” after police received a report it had attacked a dog walker and their pet.

Cheshire Constabulary said the incident was reported to have taken place on Weymouth Close in Murdishaw, Runcorn last Tuesday.

Officers received a report a dog had left another dog with a serious leg injury and its owner with cuts to his hand.

The injured dog’s distraught owner posted on social media to say a “large dog jumped the fence” to instigate the attack.

She said her pet had been left “traumatised” and had undergone surgery to treat its injuries.

The owner reported the attack happened while her husband was walking their dog.

She thanked vets for treating the pet and the public for their support.

A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said: “At 3.30pm on Tuesday, February 8, police received a report of a dog attacking a neighbouring dog along with its owner at an address on Weymouth Close in Runcorn.

“The dog is believed to have a serious injury to its leg and the owner sustained small cuts to his hand.

“After officers spoke to both owners to establish the circumstances a number of actions were taken including the dog being placed on a biting register.”
