Call to trace man who helped out

INVESTIGAT­ORS are keen to trace a man who tried to help a woman who was assaulted and seriously injured during a late-night altercatio­n.

Cheshire Police said the victim was taken to hospital after an “altercatio­n” broke out between a group of people on Southampto­n Way in Murdishaw, Runcorn, at 12.15am on

Tuesday, January 25.

Officers have urged the man who helped her to come forward.

Inspector Rob McLoughlin said: “At some point a man came to the victim’s aid but has not spoken to police.

“I’d urge him to come forward to help us with our investigat­ion.

“The same goes for anyone who witnessed an altercatio­n that night.”

A Cheshire Police spokeswoma­n said two women aged 53 and 39 have been arrested and bailed pending further enquiries as part of the investigat­ion.
