Blocks of flats set for ‘yes’
PLANS to build five blocks of flats on the site of a former dairy in Runcorn look set to be given the green light.
Halton council’s development management committee are recommended to approve proposals by AKM Homes Ltd & Bandbrand Ltd for the three-storey apartments on Sewell Street which would feature a total of 33 ‘affordable’ properties.
The scheme would consist of 17 onebedroom, and 16 two-bedroom apartments.
There would also be 33 car parking spaces, three disability spaces, two spaces for motorcycles and 26 for bicycles.
The housing development would be made available for affordable rent by Halton Housing Trust.
The site is currently vacant and used to be occupied by Express Dairies, but a design and access statement submitted by the developers claims the area had since been hit by ‘fly tipping and anti-social behaviour.’
Seven representations have been received, one in support and six objecting, the reasons being the height of the building, noise and proximity to the expressway.
The meeting takes place at Runcorn Town Hall on Tuesday, March 1.
