No body found in bridge inquiry

POLICE have still not found a body during the murder enquiry at Runcorn Bridge.

The investigat­ion was launched after a man was spotted acting suspicious­ly on the Silver Jubilee Bridge on Saturday, February 12.

Two men have been arrested in connection to the investigat­ion but have been released.

A 43-year-old was arrested on suspicion of murder after witnesses claimed they saw a man parking his car and acting suspicious­ly on the bridge, between 8:30pm and 9pm on Saturday.

He was arrested in St Helens but was released under investigat­ion on February 14.

A 38-year-old man was also arrested in Cheshire on suspicion of murder but was later released on conditiona­l bail.

Police divers could be seen in the Mersey as an underwater search unit was later based at the site.

However Merseyside Police this week confirmed a body has still not been found in connection with the investigat­ion.

Detectives said enquiries are still ongoing and anyone with informatio­n should contact police.
