Meanwhile, the WE Parsons Runcorn Town player of the month for January 2022 is midfielder Joe Holt.

Joe started all five games during the month.

He picked up our man of the match award for the Squires Gate game and was also identified by the opposition as the standout player during the games against Prestwich Heys, Squires Gate and Longridge Town.

He scored two important goals against Squires Gate and Prestwich Heys to earn crucial points for the team and that took him to 25 goals for the club.

Joe’s experience and 100% commitment will be invaluable during the run in as we look to pick up more points over the next few weeks.

The club’s Under 16s were beaten 6-0 in their Cheshire Cup semi-final against a strong Macclesfield side on Sunday.

Two goals in ten first ten minutes put Macclesfield in control. First a cross from the left was finished from close range and then a ball from deep flicked on and finished.

Town responded though when Luke Graven picked out Liam Hall who took a touch and his shot was saved. From the resulting corner Graven’s deep cross was fired over the bar by Harry Cartlidge.

Macclesfield increased their lead on 22 minutes, winning possession high up the pitch and through ball to the edge of the box was poked in.

Town kept pressing and Cartlidge had an effort from 25 yards saved. Liam Hall then had a shot deflected over the bar and from Graven’s corner Cartlidge found space at the far post, but his shot went wide.

Macclesfield created chances in the second half but aren’t able to find the target, until they were awarded a penalty midway through the half which was converted to make it 4-0.

Tommy Crane then made a great save before Macclesfield went close again with a feee kick that came back off the bar.

Macclesfield added two more goals late on. First a feee kick from wide on the left which went beyond everyone and in off the far post. Then a shot from distance which Crane did well to save but a striker was first to the loose ball to tap in.

The lads have done so well to get this far in the competition and we are proud of what they have achieved.

Their next game is a Warrington League game at home to Parkdale Sidac Rangers on Sunday as they look to maintain their 100% record in the league. Kick off at The Heath Park is 12pm.

The Under 15s were beaten in a nine-goal thriller against Runcorn Linnets Blues on Saturday morning. Goals from Owen McLaughlin (2), Aaron Pimblett and Alfie Vidamour looked to have earned a draw but a late winner meant a 5-4 defeat.

Their next game is at home to Mini Huyton Soccer Galaxy on Saturday morning. The game at The Heath Park kicks off at 11:30am.
