Conversion bid for former care facility is lodged
PLANS have been lodged to convert a former Widnes care facility into three homes.
A change of use application was submitted to Halton Borough Council to turn Littlemore House, a former residential care facility on Coroners Lane in Widnes, into three homes.
The property became a residential care facility in 1994, before going up for sale towards the end of 2021 with a guide price of around £725,000.
According to plans, the now vacant site would be converted into three separate dwellings, which would consist of three bedroom, four bedroom and five bedroom homes.
The building currently has two floors of accommodation, an outbuilding storage area, along with gardens to the rear, front and side of the building.
There’s also a ‘generous’ car park to the rear of the building which has access directly onto Coroners Lane.
According to the plans, the proposed development would provide ‘excellent quality housing’ as well as ‘improve the housing offer’ within the local area.
The statement adds that the proposal does not plan to extend the current building or externally remodel it, and that the proposal ‘does not conflict’ with the existing surrounding buildings.
Discussing changes to the appearance of the property, the submitted plans read: “There are no major external changes proposed for the building. A new entrance canopy is proposed for one of the dwellings along with alterations to the front boundary wall to allow for gated access to the dwellings.
“Minor landscaping works will be required to the front side and rear of the dwellings. The majority of window/door openings are to remain with several existing window/door openings to be sealed.
“Bi-folding doors are proposed to the ground floor living areas positioned to the rear of the dwellings.”
The conclusion of the statement, submitted by Evolve Architects, reads: “These proposals seek to have no detrimental effect on the surrounding environment of the building.
“The proposal seeks to compliment and improve the building, positively adding to the residential offer within the area.”
