WIDNES Bowling Club 501 League Jack Wilcox Shield Board 1 SXI AC v SXI BA (Prelim): Eric Peel won the first leg for the AC side only for Luke Lund to level the match.

In a nervy final leg, Tony Green prevailed for the AC team.

Round 1 Hammer A v Mill Brow A: The Brow were in fine form as they raced into the next round with a 3-0 win. The win was secured by Craig Winstanley (19 darts), Peter Fisher and Ant Hitchmough (19 darts).

SXI AC v SXI AB: The C team went one up through Mick Cullen, unopposed. Andy Abbott levelled the match to set up a last leg decider. Paul Batty for the B team held his nerve to put the two man team through to the quarter final.

Quarter Final SXI AB v Mill Brow A: Peter Fisher put the Brow one up, unopposed. Wins from

Ant Hitchmough (17 darts) and Craig Winstanley made sure the Brow A moved into the semi finals.

Board 2 WBC BA v Hammer B (Prelim): Kev Garcia and Alan Magee made the match safe for the Bowler before Robert Lea took the last for the Hammer.

Round 1 WBC BB v Ball C: The Bowler B ran away with this match 3-0 with wins from Joe Price, Danny Magee and Shane Littler.

WBC BA v Millfield B: Kev Garcia (18 darts) took the first leg for the Bowler and victory was secured with further wins from John Bowles and Alan Magee.

Quarter Final WBC BA v WBC BB: In an all Bowler shoot out, the A team proved the stronger.

Wins from Kev Garcia, John Bowles (19 darts) and Alan Magee (132 finish) put the A through to the semi finals.

MILL BROW SC RTB LEAGUE ROUND 10 CRICKETER’S ARMS V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A

THE Bowler took an early lead when Tex Bowles won the opening leg. Leggies replied by winning the next four through Dave Gerrard and Graham Fenney in the singles and Brian Mercer & Peter Mason and Brian Dwyer & Kevin Langford in the pairs. Joe Batty & Scott Grady stopped the rot in the final pairs but the points were won by the home team when Tony Langford and Karl Abbott took the next two. Joe Batty won the last for the away team but it was only a consolatio­n.

MILLFIELD V MILL

BROW SC

THE home side started well as they raced into a four leg lead. Tony

Jackson (18 darts), Ian Wall and Adam Mellor secured the opening singles. Joe Kelly & Tony Jackson (15 darts) then took the first pairs. Paul Linger & Paul Woodwood (18 darts) got one back for the visitors but the game was put to bed when Ian Wall & John Taylor won the decisive sixth game. The Brow rallied by taking the final three games,

Paul Woodwood, Kev Helps and Brian Spruce the winners but the points went to the Milly.

ANDY Abbott got the Stute off to a winning start but wins from Dave Herley, Carl Bryan and Trevor Chadwick & Ian Sharples put the home team in front. Tony Green & Ray Dutton pulled a leg back but this was not enough as wins from Kev Baxter & Billy Cain and

Phil Slavin (17 darts) secured the points for the Cricket Club. Paul Batty and Ged McPartland won the last two legs for the visitors but not the match.

WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B AT WIDNES RUFC

THE Bowler B had a comfortabl­e win over their rivals with a 9-0 whitewash. Joe Price (15 darts) was followed by Mike Callaghan (12 darts) who did not drop a dart during his game. Mike scored (1,D2,5), (6,7,D8), (17,18,19), (20, D2,B) in his 12 darter.

Ant Hitchmough took the next before returning with Mike Callaghan in the opening pairs. Joe Price & Colin Rigby and John Bowles & Alan Magee won the last two pairs games. The remaining singles were won by John Bowles (19 darts), Alan Magee and Shane Littler.

BALL B V BALL A

THE Ball B took the early honours by winning two of the first three games. Sam McGrory put the B in front only for Barry Highfield to level the match. James Tyghe again put the home team in front but this was to be their final leg as the A won the remaining six legs. Anthony Hall & Lol Fonterigo, Karl Whitfield & James Holden and Nathan Sivills & Martin Ball took the pairs. Nathan Sivills, Karl Whitfield and Peter Kneale won the remaining singles for a comfortabl­e success.
