Clear aim of town’s new top officer

-

RUNCORN’S new chief inspector has set out his stall following his appointment to the town’s top policing role.

Ch Insp Andy Blizard replaces Ch Insp Leeroy Moss, who has moved to take up the role as the General Secretary for the HMIC Implementation and Delivery Team.

A Cheshire police spokesman said that prior to his appointment, Ch Insp Blizard has worked in a variety of roles across northern Cheshire as a Police Constable, Detective Constable, Sergeant and Inspector.

He also spent time in Cheshire East as response inspector for Macclesfield.

His last role was response inspector for northern Cheshire and he has previously served as public order commander for the force.

During this time he was deployed to Northern Ireland for G8 in 2013, to London for the 2011 riots and to Scotland for Cop26 in August 2021.

In his spare time he likes walking and cycling.

Commenting on his appointment at Runcorn Local Policing Unit (LPU), Ch Insp Blizard said: “I have joined the command team at Runcorn LPU with a clear understanding of what I am going to do in post, with a supportive team behind me.

“One of my aims is to take robust action against people who are intent on causing harm to others or the communities we serve in order to make the town a safer place to live and visit.

“I also want to work with local residents to address any issues that they have and to show them that the information that they provide us is a vital part in helping us to crackdown on criminality in their neighbourhoods while also continuing the work we do to help and protect you.

“As Chief Inspector, I’m also committed to protecting our communities and those who are vulnerable by making Runcorn a hostile place for criminals to operate.”
