ROUND 11 WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B AT HOME TO SIMM’S CROSS INST. B

THIS proved to be straight forward for the Bowler as they won the match without dropping a game. Robbie Gorst (180) was followed by Kev Garcia (15 darts & 106 finish). Terry Roach completed the opening singles before Alan Magee & Joe Price and Robbie Gorst & Terry Roach (16 darts & 180) secured the points for the home team. John Bowles (180) & Kev Garcia (18 darts) took the final pairs before John Bowles (19 darts), Jonny Leather and Danny

Magee completed the rout.

SIMM’S CROSS INST. A

THE Milly raced into a two game lead with wins from Gaz Bason and Adam Mellor. Brian Dutton pulled one back with Tony Jackson (16 darts) in defeat. Ray Dutton & Brian Dutton (19 & 14 darts and 180) levelled things up before Stu Pennington & Glen Owen put the home team in front for the first time. THE Brow got off to a great start with wins from Dave Powell, Peter Fisher (19 darts), Tom Callaghan, Scott Grady (15 darts & 180) in defeat and the opening pair Mike Callaghan & Peter Fisher (18 darts). Joe Batty & Scott Grady got the Bowler on the score sheet but the points were soon in the bag when

HAMMER & PINCERS AT HOME TO BALL A

KARL Whitfield got the away team off to a winning start before Robert Lea levelled things up. Anthony Hall (180), Karl Whitfield & Karl Windisch, James Holden & Anthony Hall (180) and Martin Ball & Lol Fonterigo secured the points for the visitors.

THE Bowler struck first through Kev Garcia (14 darts) and Robbie Gorst. Dave Powell pulled a leg back but the two leg advantage was restored after John Bowles & Kev Garcia (15 darts) took the next. Paul Linger & Paul Woodwood won the next for the Brow but the Bowler replied with a win from Robbie Gorst & Mike Callaghan. Jeff Thompson kept the game alive but a win from John Bowles (18 darts) got the Bowling Club B over the finishing line. Brian Spruce took the last but the Bowler face the Widnes Cricket Club in the quarter finals.

QUARTER FINALS WIDNES CC V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B

THE Bowling Club B got off to a tremendous start by taking a four game lead with wins from Robbie Gorst, Mike Callaghan, Kev Garcia and the opening pair of John Bowles & Kev Garcia. Matty Fisher & Trevor Chadwick got the Cricket Club on the score sheet but a win from Robbie Gorst & Mike Callaghan in the next secured a safe passage for the Bowler into the semi finals. To their credit the CC kept on fighting until the end as they rattled off the remaining three singles games with wins from Carl Bryan (13 darts), Phil Slavin and Dave Herley.

WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A V MILLFIELD

THE Bowling Club A started well with legs from Ray O’Connor (13 darts) and Scott Grady. The Millfield replied with two of their own through Chris Taylor and the opening pair of Jay Donegan and Adam Mellor. The Bowler were soon back in front with a leg from Ray O’Connor & Alex McGill only to see the Milly level the tie through Chris Taylor & Mike Howard. The Milly led for the first time in game seven with a leg from Mike Howard but the match was taken to a decider when Joe Batty made it four all. Adam Mellor for the Millfield took the final and decisive leg to put the Milly in the last four.

BALL B V BALL A

THE Ball A made a great start sweeping the opening singles with wins from Nathan Sivills, Anthony Hall and Rob Gatcliffe. The B team got what was to be their only leg in the next with a win from Ste Cowley & Lee Woollam. The remaining legs were taken by Anthony Hall & Barry Highfield and Karl Whitfield & Nathan Sivills in the pairs with Barry Highfield, Martin Ball and Karl Whitfield (18 darts) in the singles to reach the last four.

WIDNES RUFC V SIMM’S CROSS INST.

IN a game of two halves, the Stute took command with Ray Dutton, Dave Evans and Glen Owen (18 darts) winning the first three singles. The game was soon over as Andy Abbott & Brian Dutton, Glen Owen & David Batty and Dave Evans & Joe Pennington swept the pairs to put the Stute into the semi finals. The Wids then hit back by taking the final three singles.

Wins coming from Keith Glover (15 darts), David Goff and Paul Woods making the score line a little more respectabl­e.
