THERE were wins for both Runcorn Town’s Under 15s and Under 16s recently.

The Under 15s won an entertaining cup tie against Knowsley at The Heath Park.

Knowsley took the lead after just four minutes with a shot from the edge of the box after an initial effort was blocked. Town equalised three minutes later - Aaron Pimblett did really well to win the ball in the corner and his low cross was tapped in by Mackenzie Powell.

On 11 minutes Knowsley went back in front with a shot from distance that Ethan Glover got a hand to but couldn’t keep out. Midway through the half Town got a second equaliser. Pimblett’s corner was cleared back out to him on the right and he beat the defender before firing a shot past the keeper at the near post.

Nine minutes into the second half Town took the lead. Glover kicked the ball long and Powell won a

50-50 before running through on goal and finishing past the keeper. Jack McLaughlin-Light made it 4-2, intercepting a throw and then hitting a shot from 25 yards over the keeper and into the next.

Knowsley clawed one back in injury time – a corner wasn’t cleared and fell to a Knowsley player to fire past Glover. But Town finished off the game a minute later. A ball over the top found Owen McLaughlin in space and he was able to run through and finish past the keeper to make it 5-3.

The Under 16s maintained their 100% record in the league with an 8-0 win against Appleton AFC Real at The Heath Park.

Liam Hall gave Town an early lead before Owen Chadwick made it two with a great header from a corner on 20 minutes.

Three quick goals at the start of the second half put the game beyond doubt. First Liam Hall got his second of the with a finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Alex Konstantinitis then finished in off the far post before Ben Boote beat the keeper with a great finish from a tight angle to make it five.

Boote completed his hat-trick, firing in after a bit of penalty box pinball following a corner, then running onto Billy McNay’s through ball to score.

Hall also got his third of the game – running onto a through ball and lifting the ball over the keeper to complete a convincing win.
