Arson incidents in town

RUNCORN was hit by a spate of arson incidents over four days.

One crew was called to Sea Lane off Halton Road at 9.02pm on Friday, April 1, where a quad bike had been ignited.

Firefighte­rs used the What3Words app to locate the blaze, then used a hose to extinguish the flames.

Police were informed.

At 12.39am on Sunday, April 3, one fire engine from Runcorn was called to Eastwood in Windmill Hill where a fence was alight. The crew damped the area down and asked for the police to be informed.

Again, the What3Words app was used to pinpoint the location.

A spate of four fires were tackled on Runcorn Hill in the space of three hours.

The first two were reported on Highlands Road and involved grass and hay, followed by two fires reported on Weston Road. Water backpacks were used to douse the flames.

All of the above fires took place in Runcorn and were believed to have been caused deliberate­ly.
