Bikes found stashed in woods

TWO stolen motorbikes were found hidden in woods as part of a police investigat­ion into yob riders in Widnes.

Cheshire Constabula­ry said officers had received “multiple” reports of suspected pilfered bikes causing “antisocial behaviour” and criminal offences in Widnes.

The town’s local policing unit (LPU) has teamed up with the drone unit and Operation Scrambler in response to a series of incidents that occurred “in quick succession”.

Their efforts have resulted in two stolen motorbikes being found hidden in woods near Clincton View.

Officer have also obtained video footage from the public.

A force spokesman added three males were also detained as part of Operation Scrambler and have since been ruled out of the investigat­ion.

Enquiries are ongoing. Chief Inspector Caroline Mullen-Hurst, of Widnes LPU, said: “I am extremely happy with the efforts that Widnes officers are putting in to bring these criminals to justice.

“The antisocial behaviour caused by the illegal use of off road and stolen motorbikes is a priority issue.

“I want to reassure the public that officers will take a robust approach with those causing such harm within your communitie­s.

“I am appealing for any informatio­n that the public have which can assist with our enquiries, in order to take the criminals, drugs and antisocial behaviour off the streets of Widnes.”

The spokesman said: “Officers in the area are working to catch those involved and anyone with any further footage of the incidents, if you have any informatio­n, please contact 101 quoting the reference IML1245740.”
