MILL BROW SC RTB LEAGUE WILSON CUP AT MILL BROW SC SEMI FINALS WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B V MILLFIELD

THE first semi final matched up the joint league leaders and the Millfield were first on the score sheet through Joe Kelly. Joe Price levelled things up before Alan Sutton put the Milly back in front. John Bowles & Alan Magee again tied the scores before Ian Wall & Adam Mellor and Tony Jackson & Joe Kelly gave the Milly some breathing space. Alan Magee closed the gap to one but with both players having several darts at the bull it was the Millfield’s Tony Jackson who took the decisive eighth and match winning leg. Tom Callaghan (14 darts) hit the quickest game of the semi final for the Bowler but not the match.

BALL A V SIMM’S CROSS INST.

THE Stute started off well with legs from Brian Dutton and Glen Owen (14 darts). Martin Ball took the next for the Ball A but this proved to be their last as the Stute rattled off the remaining six games to reach the final. Andy Abbott & Paul Batty, Glen Owen & Brian Dutton and Dave Evans & Joe Pennington swept the doubles. The final three singles were won by Paul Batty, Ray Dutton and Andy Abbott to set up a final against the Millfield.

MILLFIELD V SIMM’S CROSS INST.

IN a somewhat one-sided final the Millfield showed again that they are a formidable side to beat in the round the board format. Adam Mellor (10 darts) started things off before Tony Jackson (18 darts) put the Milly two up. Ian Wall completed the clean sweep of the singles and the game was soon up for the Stute with Tony Jackson & Joe Kelly and Ben Hewitt & Chris Taylor taking the next two to give match and Wilson Cup for 2022 to the Milly.

LT. WILKINSON CUP AT WIDNES CC SEMI FINALS

THE Wids were first on the score board with a win from Phil Corless (14 darts) but the game was soon all square after a leg from Jonny Leather. Keith Glover regained the lead before two on the trot from Phil Slavin & Matty Fisher and Trevor Chadwick put the Cricket Club on top for the first time. It was soon three each with a win from Keith Glover & Lee Buckley (15 darts) going into the last three singles. Mick Davies put the Wids within a leg of the final but that was as close as they would get. Trevor Chadwick took the game to a decider in which team mate Phil Slavin (15 darts) finished things off in style.

BALL B V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A

RYAN Brown took the opening leg for the Ball, but the Bowler hit back by taking the next three. With Joe Batty and Tex Bowles in the singles followed by Scott Grady & Joe Batty in the opening pairs. Ste Cowley & Ben Hogan pulled one back before the two games advantage was restored by Alex McGill & Barry Noonan. James Tyghe cut the deficit to one before Scott Grady (17 darts) and Mark Smith put the Bowler in the final to face the Cricket Club.

WIDNES CC V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A

THE Bowler took the early honours with wins from Joe Batty and Scott Grady. The CC hit back in style with Phil Slavin recording the fastest leg of the season to date, by finishing in nine darts. They then went on to sweep the pairs with wins from Phil Slavin & Matty Fisher (19 darts), Carl Bryan & Dave Herley and Trevor Chadwick & Ian Sharples. At four to two down the Bowler then produced a comeback, Alex McGill and Mark Smith (14 darts) levelled the match going into the last leg decider. Tex Bowles held his nerve to complete the comeback and take the 2022 Lt. Wilkinson trophy.
