Teenager handed a curfew
A TEENAGER who burgled a high school last year has been handed a curfew after threatening two women via Instagram.
The 15-year-old from Runcorn, who cannot be identified due to his age, appeared at Cheshire Youth Court in
Warrington last Thursday, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of malicious communications.
Court documents said the charges followed two incidents of making threats on Instagram with a view to causing “distress or anxiety” to two separate victims in January.
The convictions came only two months after the boy was slapped with a Youth Rehabilitation Order (YRO) in February for a litany of offences including stealing musical instruments and computer equipment from a Runcorn high school in November; and stealing a laptop, games console controller, car key and pair of “flowery knickers” from inside a building in July 2021.
At Cheshire Youth
Court last Thursday his YRO was revoked and replaced with an updated YRO including a six-week 7pm-7am electronic curfew with supervision and appointments to attend, plus an order to pay £50 in compensation to each of his victims.
Court papers said this will be paid by his mother. The teenager was made subject to a restraining order banning him from contacting his victims directly or indirectly for two years.
