HALTON has been named as one of the worst ‘dental deserts’ in the country. The Association of Dental Groups (ADG) have uncovered areas across the country and found ‘stark regional disparities in dental provision’.
In its new report titled England’s Dental Deserts: The urgent need to “level up” access to dentistry, Halton was named in the top 10 worst affected areas in the country.
The report says Brexit, Covid and contract challenges continue to drive NHS dentistry into a critical state, with ‘dental deserts’ emerging across the country.
The ADG identified the top 20 most at-risk CCGs through analysis of data published in NHS Dental Statistics for England reports.
The Halton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) was found to be in the top 10 worst affected areas.
The report revealed that the area has just 42 dentists per 100,000 people.
