Teen’s bike robbed by thugs

- BY OLIVER CLAY

TWO thugs riding a moped robbed a teenager of his bike in a “terrifying ordeal”.

Detectives said the victim and a friend were standing near the tennis courts on Highlands Road in Runcorn at around 5.35pm on Tuesday, May 10, when the robbers approached.

The moped’s pillion passenger grabbed one of the boys and threatened him to hand over the bike.

The robbers, who were male and wearing balaclavas, then fled the scene carrying the bicycle on the moped.

It is believed they travelled over the Silver Jubilee Bridge to Widnes.

The stolen bike has since been returned to the owner but Cheshire Police are keen to hear from anyone with any information to assist their investigation.

Detective Constable Lois Elvey said: “This would have been a terrifying ordeal for the teenagers and I want the community to know that we are doing everything possible to track down those responsible.

“We have several enquiries underway and know that after the incident, the suspects are believed to have travelled to Widnes via the Silver Jubilee Bridge carrying the bike.

“As part of these enquiries, we have issued CCTV of two males we would like to speak to in connection with the robbery.

“I am also appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam or CCTV footage of the suspects around the time of the incident and has not yet got in touch to please do so.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Cheshire Police via www.cheshire. police.uk, quoting IML 1265635 via or call 101.

Alternatively, anyone with information can report it to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or via crimestoppers-uk.org
