Expanded programme of music and theatre at museum

-

NORTON Priory Museum and Gardens near Runcorn will stage an exciting, expanded programme of theatre and music events in 2024, thanks to a new enhanced role for artistic directors Kate Allerston and Chris Bastock.

Their award-winning theatre company A Place for Us was appointed in 2021 to deliver a number of key events but now, supported by the museum’s role as an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation, Kate and Chris will take the reins of Norton Priory’s full programme of theatrical and musical performances.

The talented duo will curate a packed 2024 event season, attracting a range of top actors and musicians into the heart of Halton, with new outdoor theatre productions, classical music concerts, touring theatre shows and professional singers.

The partnership will also offer increased opportunities for some of Halton’s most promising young performers, as Norton Priory will host students from A Place

For Us Theatre Academy at regular times throughout the year.

Rob SandersonThomas, Norton Priory CEO, said: “Audience feedback consistently shows very high levels of enjoyment for performances that have been created by Kate and Chris.

“We always listen to our visitors and are delighted that Kate and Chris have agreed to take on the role of delivering all Norton Priory’s creative programming.

“I know they will create magical and memorable experiences for our visitors, and I’m delighted to welcome them to Team Norton.”

Kate said: “Since 2021, Norton Priory has become our creative home and we’re delighted to be able to continue our journey through this new evolution of our role.”

Chris added: “It’s a proud moment to be taking the reins of all the theatrical and musical programming at what is one of the North West’s most atmospheric and unique venues. We’re honoured to be such an integral part of bringing Norton Priory and its 900-year history to life through quality performances across the site.”
