Family-friendly festival is set to celebrate the beauty of spring

- BY ADAM MAIDMENT

CHESHIRE’S Alderley Park is to host a familyfriendly festival on the 400-acre woodland estate which is opening its gates on April 27 for Spring Fest 2024.

The event will celebrate the beauty of spring with activities centred around wildlife, animals and nature.

It will feature live music, tractor rides, archery, falconry flying displays and a variety of pop-up food and drink stalls.

Visitors can also enjoy spring craft activities while listening to music from The Roaming Empire, a band based in Cheshire.

Children will have the chance to ride mini Land Rovers, participate in a woodland trail treasure hunt and try out a farm-themed circuit course.

The science and tech campus, owned by Bruntwood SciTech, also operates as a working farm with 250 ewes, producing about 400 lambs each year. Festival-goers can visit the lambing shed to see the newest arrivals.

Spring Fest is an updated version of the popular Farm Weekend event that has been held since 2019. This community event, which is not for profit, will run from 10am to 4pm on April 27. All activities are included in the £8 ticket price and 50p from each ticket sold will be donated to charity.

Daniel Bourne, the Director of Asset Management at Bruntwood SciTech, said: “We’re delighted to launch Spring Fest this April and can’t wait to bring our most inspiring programme yet to the community.”

Celebrating 10 years since they transformed Alderley Park, he added: “As we celebrate 10 years of the transformation of Alderley Park, we thought it the perfect time to evolve our Farm Weekend event and pack in even more reasons to love spring and all that it embodies.

“Nature is at the heart of what we do at Alderley Park and we’re delighted to throw open our gates to the community to experience the joy of the park.”

Ten years ago, Bruntwood SciTech turned the historic Alderley Park site into a hub for those working in science, technology and the bigger innovation sector.

The park, which also has Everybody @ Alderley Park (a cutting-edge gym and sports complex) and The Churchill Tree (an onsite pub and restaurant), is open to everyone. Tickets for Spring Fest are £8 each with children under three going free. All activities are included in the ticket price.
