WIDNES BOWLING CLUB 501 LEAGUE ROUND 17 WIDNES BOWLING CLUB A V BALL

ROB Magee put the Bowler into an early lead but the visitors hit back by taking the next four games with wins from Anthony Hall (18 darts), with Peter Bowles (18 darts & 180) in defeat and Ged Kilburn in the singles and James Holden & Mark Tyrer and Karl Whitfield & Anthony Hall in the pairs. Matt Drury & Rob Magee kept the match alive and Matt returned in the singles (17 darts) to cut the deficit to one. Alex McGill sent the tie to a deciding game and with the decider sitting at one each it was Karl Whitfield (18 darts) who came good for the Ball in the closest of games.

SIMM’S CROSS INST. B V WIDNES BOWLING CLUB B

THE Bowler started well and they were quickly two games ahead with points from Alan Magee (19 darts) and Robbie Gorst (13 & 17 darts). Callum McCaffrey put the Stute on the scoreboard and he returned in the pairs with Cody Davies to bring the scores level, Alan Magee hitting a maximum in defeat. Robbie Gorst (180) & Kenny Murphy (16 darts) put the visitors back in front and Terry Roach & Jono Teeling (18 darts) added to the advantage. Needing to win all three of the closing singles, the Stute bagged another win from Callum Ward but with wins from John Bowles and Terry Roach (2 x 18 darts, 141 finish and 180) the Bowler finished off their regular season schedule with a hard fought victory.

MILLFIELD V MILL BROW SC

THE Brow were first on the scoreboard with a win from Peter Fisher, Ben Hewitt (17 darts) in defeat, but the Milly levelled proceeding­s through Adam Mellor (180). Lee Price (17 darts) regained the lead but again the visitors were pegged back through Ben Hewitt & Adam Mellor (17 darts). The Brow then made the game safe with some fine throwing from Lee Price & Peter Fisher (18 darts), Craig Winstanley (180) & Dave Powell (19 darts) and Dave Powell (19 & 14 darts). John Dermody added another for the Brow before Ronnie Greylish took the last for the home team but not the match.

THE PREMIER V HOUGH GREEN SC

THE visitors went ahead through Chris Ellis but the match was soon all square after a point from Dave Grabaskey. Hough Green then went ahead through Duane Lawton (180) and with a clean sweep of the pairs

Hough Green bagged their first league win of the season. The winning pairings being Duane Lawton & Keith Glover (19 darts), Chris Ellis & Russ Hardman and Paul Murty & Merv Grady. Keith Glover (17 darts) increased the lead before Michael Fay and Jordan Ratcliffe netted the last two for The Premier.

MILL BROW SC RTB LEAGUE JASON BRIGHT PRESIDENT PAIRS PRELIM

A total of 38 pairs entered this year’s Jason Bright’s President Pairs which meant that there were 6 preliminar­y round games. The preliminar­y round started off with 2-1 wins for Ray & Paul Linger (15 darts), with opponents Tony & Mike Haddock winning their leg in 13 darts and Brian Spruce & Marc Jones (11 darts). Dan Glynn & Mike Ruane, Cody & Alex Davies (19 darts) and Brad Adams & Adam Foster all won 2-0. John Dermody & Eric Peel needed all three legs to confirm their place in the last thirty two.

ROUND 1

RAY & Paul Linger (13 darts) progressed to round 2 with a 2-0 win and they were joined by Cody & Alex Davies, John Dermody & Eric Peel and Graham Fenney & Tony Langford who were all taken to a deciding leg. Anthony Hall & James Holden won their match 2-0 as did Kenny Murphy & Joe Price. Russ Hardman & Andy McIntosh were taken to a decider and Glen Owen & Paul Batty (18 darts) won through 2-0. Mike & Tom Callaghan were taken to a deciding leg as were Adam Mellor & Phil Slavin (15 & 11 darts), Jamie Donegan & Danny Wood, Kurt Felton & Joe Gash and Brian Dwyer & Dave Gerrard. The remaining three games were won by a 2-0 score line, the winning pairs being Robbie Gorst & Terry Roach (15 & 17 darts), Dave Palmer & Barry Lightfoot and Ronnie Greylish & Keith Horabin.

ROUND 2

CODY & Alex Davies advanced to the quarter finals with a 2-0 win as did Graham Fenney & Tony Langford who won the decider. The remaining games were won in straight legs, the pairings making the last eight were Anthony Hall & James Holden, Glen Owen & Paul Batty, Adam Mellor & Phil Slavin, Jamie Donegan & Danny Wood, Robbie Gorst & Terry Roach (11 darts) and Dave Palmer & Barry Lightfoot.

QUARTER FINALS

GRAHAM Fenney & Tony Langford (15 darts) produced their third 2-1 victory in advancing to finals night where they will meet Glen Owen & Paul Batty (16 &12 darts) who won 2-0. Adam Mellor & Phil Slavin edged past their opponents in the decider and they will meet Robbie Gorst & Terry Roach (10 darts) who won 2-0.
