the little ones an opportunity to channel their inner Mo Farah and experience the same big time start and finish as the main race!
When Lord Seb Coe, British running icon and Chairman of CSM Sport Entertainment (CSM), recently announced the launch of the London 10 Mile, the first in a series of major closed road running events CSM are bringing to the capital in 2017, it was met with a huge amount of excitement within the running community. Coming to the stunning Richmond Park on June 4, the London 10 Mile will provide thousands of runners with a truly special opportunity to take on the unique 10 mile distance on the closed roads of London’s most spectacular Royal Park. Here are our 10 reasons you should take part in the London 10 Mile this summer:
1. It’s a great distance!
The 10 mile distance bridges the gap perfectly between the 10k and half marathon, providing a fantastic challenge for runners of all abilities (and a new PB for most participants!)
2. Traffic-free roads
The London 10 Mile marks the only day this year when Richmond Park will close its roads to all forms of road traffic exclusively for a running event. Yep, that’s no cars, no cyclists, just runners, supporters and a few deer!
3. Beautiful setting
You’d be hard pressed to find a better location than Richmond Park for a running event in the capital. Expect to pass roaming deer, thousand year old trees, historical landmarks and enjoy stunning views over London.
4. Great summer date
The London 10 Mile takes place on June 4 which means that whilst there’s no guarantee the sun will come out to play ( it’s the UK, after all…), there’s a pretty good chance it’s going to be a day for vests and sunnies!
5. Fun for all the family
The London 10 Mile is also hosting a 1 mile Family Fun Run which gives
6. Picnic in the Park
Once the running action is complete, runners can kick back, relax and enjoy a fantastic summer’s day out at the Picnic in the Park. Expect loads of kids’ entertainment, great food & drink and live music, so the whole family can celebrate their achievements in style.
7. Giving back to parkrun
Through the London 10 Mile’s official partnership with parkrun, the London 10 Mile are donating a % of their entry revenue to help parkrun continue to deliver free, weekly 5k’s. The more runners that enter, the more parkrun benefit!
8. Great Ormond Street Hospital
The London 10 Mile is proud to have Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as its official charity partner. You can enter via GOSH for as little as £25!
9. Free photos
Let’s face it, runners are fed up with having to pay for their race photos! That’s why the London 10 Mile is giving all of its runners their full selection of race photos absolutely free.
10. Adaptive training plan
We all know that injury, fatigue and just life in general can easily throw you off your training schedule, which is why the London 10 Mile have teamed up with Mbition to give every single participant a free, three month premium trial of their game-changing adaptive training platform.
