MIDSUMMER MUNRO
TRAIL – RURAL – HILLY
Billed as the UK’S ‘hardest half’, this punchy 13.1-miler has an elevation gain of 3,000 feet, equivalent to that of a Scottish Munro. If it’s punishing – it takes place on Box Hill, Surrey, the toughest part of the Olympic cycling route at London 2012 – it’s also picturesque, providing panoramic views of the North Downs. Reward yourself afterwards with a glass of wine at the nearby Denbies Vineyard. Dorking, July 1, trionium.com
