Apple Watch 3 Apple is improving its watches to have fitness functionality that is less of an add-on and more an integral part of the USP. There are some functionality quirks that running-tech geeks will find irritating, but overall this is a great all-round device, with solid fitness credentials.

Fitbit Ionic A big forward step for Fitbit. This is the company’s most impressive smartwatch to date and it has some excellent features – the auto-run function is particularly welcome – but it feels more like a £200 watch for now. Great potential, but it needs more work.
