An autoimmune condition whereby the immune system mistakenly starts attacking the body. In MS, the protective layers around the nerves to the brain and spinal cord become damaged.

The cause is unknown but it’s thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors.

Symptoms vary, but often leg or arm movement is impeded and vision becomes blurred. Sensation and balance can also be affected.

There’s no cure, but patients can slow down its progression or reduce flare-up episodes by using medication.
