LET THERE BE PIZZA
It’s almost too good to be true: pizza may be helping to cut your cancer risk. Researchers at the Mario Negri Institute for Pharmaceutical Research in Milan found eating pizza at least once a week can cut the risk of developing cancer of the oesophagus by 59 per cent, mouth cancer by 34 per cent and colon cancer by 26 per cent. Apparently, it’s all down to the antioxidant lycopene, found in the tomato base, whose potency is increased in the presence of fat (such as cheese).
