The fact that this race (5- or 10-mile options available) is set in Ham Hill Country Park should tell locals all they need to know. Not from those parts? OK, it’s not only a geological Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), but also a nature reserve and (here’s where the name comes in) an important archaeological site, owing to the Iron Age hill fort and remains of a Roman site contained within.
