Recently discovered fat-burning properties have given the fruit’s credentials a scientific seal of approval. Research published in the enticingly titled journal
Oxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity found that 14g of berries a day helped people with metabolic syndrome – a combination of conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure – lower their levels of bad cholesterol (LDL), as well as reducing fat-creating triglycerides in their blood.
Another study, published in the Journal of Alternative & Complementary Medicine, found that participants who consumed goji berry juice for 14 days reported an improvement in energy, athletic performance and quality of sleep. Add a handful of goji berries to a smoothie of bananas and almond milk.
